How do you create a harmonious team?
I think itโs the wrong question (IMO)โ๏ธ
Hereโs why over-emphasising harmony can be counterproductive.
A culture of agreeableness stifles innovation, problem solving, and growth.
- A pursuit of harmony can lead to a culture where ๐๐๐๐ค๐ช๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฎ is ignored (huge team demotivator!)
- A "happy family" ethos fosters a culture where genuine emotions and concerns are masked, leading to
But if not harmony, then what?
High EQ leaders create an environment of
They believe:
Healthy disagreement can ๐๐ค-๐๐ญ๐๐จ๐ฉ with a positive workplace atmosphere ๐คฒ
We must leave ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐จ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ก ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐๐๐ ๐จ to one side when disagreeing โ
There must be a ๐๐๐ฃ๐ช๐๐ฃ๐ attempt to actively listen and seek othersโ perspective โบ๏ธ
You should always bring it back to the ๐จ๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐ฅ๐ช๐ง๐ฅ๐ค๐จ๐ and common goal ๐
- Disagreements are not about ๐ฌ๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ช๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐จ, itโs about shared solutions ๐ง
Most importantly, we must have the humility to admit when wrong and be willing to change opinion.
Healthy disagreements doesnโt jeopardise team chemistry, it solidifies it.
Thatโs when I think we get purposeful, energised, and accountable teams.
